Home for Christmas

So being home for the holidays has actually turned out to be pretty good. At first, I was a little skeptical about coming home. But, I am glad that I am home. Christmas was great! We had some nice gatherings with friends and family, a good christmas dinner and of course presents!

Ter and I are heading back to Vancouver on Jan. 3. But, I thought I would make a list of the things I love just to recall before the new year starts as I did it last year too!

The best things in life:
  • Chocolate (I've eaten way too much lately)
  • Friends
  • Family
  • Elderly people (they're just so cute)
  • Watercolour paints
  • Sandals
  • Mountains in the summer
  • Little Jack and Annika
  • Jelly Belly Jelly beans
  • Drinking water
  • Shopping
  • Lipchap
  • Books
  • Happiness
Well you know. I am not that exciting of a blogger.. but atleast I wrote something down!

The Surprises in Vancouver

Ter and I thought that when we moved to Vancouver that the weather would be great. We were prepared for the rain. We were excited about the warmer winter weather (never really gets below zero) and the lack of snow. Well.... we are in for a big surprise!!!!

Starting last week we had a huge rain storm. It was so bad that there were mud slides into the water resevoirs and a boil water advisory was put into affect. It has lasted TEN days and was taken off today at lunch. To add to this was.... a SNOW STORM! It is a crazy amount of snow. An amount that would even be a lot for Regina. My car this morning (it snowed from Saturday evening to Monday morning) had over a foot and half on the roof. The funny thing is that the entire city shut down. UBC, simon fraser uni, and EVERY elementry and secondary school closed. Half of the greater vancouver area is powerless, including UBC and public transit is shut down. I went to work this morning and made it fine. My little car even made it up the fairly large hill with only a little wiggling. But, as I arrived at work, I got stuck. Their road was not plowed yet, but I shoveled myself out later this afternoon. So, I started on my way home and I made it fine. The main roads are cleared, but it is just a SNOW DAY here in Vancouver!!!

So, the weather has been different then we expected! It has been a little crazy!! Here are a few pictures.. starting from Saturday evening to Monday morning.

MISS YOU ALL!!!

Life in Vancouver - October

Vancouver has been pretty good so far. In October, the stress of moving calmed down some. Ter fell into school life really well and I am enjoying my job a lot. Ter is going to scan some pictures of the little guy I work with - just because he is sooo cute.

We went to a Canucks Hockey game with awesome seats. And.. we are hoping that the Riders win the semi-finals so we can watch the west final here in Vancouver!

I was home for a bit in October for convocation. I am glad that I went. It was actually really good closure from the U of R. I loved the Campion cermony and brunch. All of the staff at Campion were so nice and gave you a great send off to your future. I got to wear the bright red gown! I also got my grad pictures done when I was down. Thanks to everyone I got to see well I was home. I didn't have very much time, but everyone I saw was awesome. So were the great little kids at Wilfrid Walker- I missed them so much!

So next week I am heading off to Kelowna for a week with the lady I work with. She is visiting family with the kids and asked if I wanted to come along - So I am. And then I get some extra money too!

Anyways, we booked are flights home for Christmas. We come home Dec. 19 late at night and leave Jan 3. I hope I see everyone! But, I can't really think of anything else to say... So I hope everyone is good! MISS YOU!

From Vancouver...

Well it has been a while since I wrote a post. I have been so busy and I never feel like I have any time to sit and type this. I still should be studying for the GRE right now, but I am not.

So, Vancouver so far has been interesting and good. I do love the city. The traffic is o.k. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but defiantly worse then Regina. We spent over a week cleaning, organizing and buying furniture. Our apartment was... gross... when we got here. It is WAY better now. The place needed a major clean - A LOT!!! The new paint, and furniture looks great now!

We went to Granville Island one day and other then that we havn't explored the city that much. I started work yesterday. It is with the cutest little guy with Down Syndrome and his little sister. It is different kinda being a "stay at home mom", just playing with the kids, feeding them and working on speech production and getting paid! It is great.

I posted some pictures on myspace - http://hkmcool.spaces.msn.com/PersonalSpace.aspx
They are not from Vancouver, but from right before I left - Buffalo days, Rider game and my trip to Toronto!

I miss everyone SOOO much and I hope everyone is well! I will update when I get the new pics put on the computer!
MISS YOU!

What a Surprise!

So I came home after work on Tuesday and there was this fairly think envelope from the student awards office at the U of R. I was very excited as I thought I might get something from them because my average was in the high 80's. So, I opened the envelope and I was ecstatic! I got the academic gold scholarship for being in the top 1% of the Faculty of Arts! So, I ended up receiving a $1500 scholarship. The cool thing is that my balance is paid off, so I just get a cheque for the money! - YAH!!!

I am so happy!

Grey's Anatomy

So I honestly love this show. I just listened to the podcast about the final episode and it was amazing. Here are some of the points they made:
  • The whole season finale was about flight or fight for all the characters.
  • They were so sad to see "Doc" die (the dog). It was a metophor for the relationship between Derek and Merideth.
  • The use of monologues by all the characters was awesome. It allowed each character to express their feelings. The produces said that what was said during the monologues will be very important for season 3.
  • Alex showed what a good guy he can be, by telling Izzy the truth when Denny was dead. P.s. the producers loved Denny, but they had to kill him off.
  • Christina and Berk due to the best talking when they say nothing. At first, when Chistina comes into his room and then they look at eachother and leave says way more then words could. Then at the end, it took all Christina could do go into that room and hold Berk's hand. She did it because she didn't want to lose him like Izzy lost Denny.
  • The prom - It makes all the characters be placed at the same level. They all revert back to a highschool feel. The main thing I didn't notice was the colours. The clothing they all wore was black, except Izzy (who wore a princess dress). This was because they all knew Denny was going to die, so it was like they were going to a funeral. Interesting, atleast to me :)
  • Cally catching Meredith and Derek is important for season 3, they said. I wonder!
  • The final scene were Derek and Finn are both standing there is going to set the stage for season 3. Finn is a contender and Meredith honestly doesn't know who to choose. But, it is obvious that Derek is over Addison.
So that was the most interesting stuff I found from the podcast. It was really good and I can't wait for next season.

Ps. Spring classes are going. Half way done almost!

Finally Done!

That is right! I am done finals! They went fairly well. Not having Terrence around as a distraction made studying a lot easier. I only had two, but I hope to pull off some good marks in those classes. Anyways, I now have from today until May 8 to do nothing! It will be nice. I have a few plans, lots of cleaning, getting applications ready, and other things to do.

Anywho, I also wanted to say Congrats to Terrence and Amy! They both got into grad school! Amy is now going to be my mentor, as I hope to get into Speech one day too! Congratulations!

That is it for today!

School is frusterating

School isn't that bad. Classes and prof's are ok.

However, I have become mixed up twice now because of school related things happeneing.
  1. McGill sucks! They wont accept my year of psyc. stats. They say I need to take another one when U of R doesn't offer any more psyc. stats on a regular basis. All other schools for speech path. only need one stats class. Why does McGill require two?
  2. U of R confuses me. I emailed the education faculty in Febrary to ask if I could take this Communication disorders class. Immediately, I got a reply saying "no". Then today, I got an email from a different lady telling me that she registered me in the class. Now I have four classes and I only need three to graduate. What should I do?? The comm. dis. class is a night class and I wanted to work more at night. But, the class would be awesome. Things are so confusing!
I wish you could be employable without school.

My Lack of Motivation

So I should be studying right now. I just can't seem to stay focused on it. I was thinking that it might be because I only have two finals and I used to having five. Yet, you would think I would want to kick butt on these two.

I am just being lazy. I can't wait until this week is over and school is done for a bit. I am taking three spring classes. One in May and two in June. But from this weekend to May 8, I have no school.

So Easter was ok. We didn't do much. My mom brought her horse "Razz" home now that we have a barn, etc. He is a good looking horse, really pretty.

Now that I wasted some time on here, I think I am going to attempt to study some more. Good luck to everyone writing finals!

The end of the semester...

Well it is finally the end of the semester. Classes end on Wednesday. After this I only have three classes left and they will be finished by June 29, 2006 - I am very excited to be finished. I only have two finals this time around, which is really nice for a change. Then two more papers to hand in. It seems that school never ends. It has been one crazy semester. I have never had so much work to do before.

Well Terrence is in B.C. now. He is doing really well. He has gotten lost once on the bus so far, which is pretty good. I really thought he would have gotten lost more by now :) (That's what I love about you hun). I really miss him, but he needs to do this and I think it is awesome that he just got up and left. I would be such a chicken to leave if I was in the same situation.

Well thats about all that is new for now. I am just finsihing up school, babysitting and working at the library. Hope everyone is well!

How amazing is this

So, Terrence was telling me about these fraternal twins where one was black and one white. I thought this was amazing. These two little girls are beautiful and even look a like (other then skin colour). If you want to read the article, here you go!
